Bahia palace

Bahia palace

Coming back with another monument from my city, the Bahia palace. I only want to talk about it because I have memories of it in my mind, when I was little I used to go there probably every year, sometimes with friends, others with family and so it goes, but after i was around 15 I stopped going just because I couldn’t have time to go there especially because of school and it was far from my house so it would take a lot of time just to visit, but I’m glad I did went to it when I had the chance.

The Bahia palace is a mid to late 19th-century palace in Marrakesh. The palace was first begun by Si Musa, grand vizier of Alaouite sultan Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman, in 1859 and then continued and expanded by his son Si Ba Ahmed ibn Musa, grand vizier of Sultan Moulay Abdelaziz between 1894 and 1900.

Architecture:

The palace’s labyrinthine layout, which does not reveal a clear unified plan, is due to the fact that it was expanded in a piecemeal fashion in different stages over many years. It comprises a number of inner courtyards and riad gardens (interior gardens with a symmetrical four-part division), around which are arranged various rooms and chambers. The main palace complex today covers almost 2 hectares.

I have looked into many reasons why I am very attached o Bahia palace, and I only came to the conclusion that the fact that I love cooking, and my attraction to play with colors and tastes, is what made this palace a showstopper in my mind, it is very vibrant, very captivating, and that implies to my way of cooking I always tend to make dishes that makes people hungry and thirsty just by the looks, like you can never get over it, and I gladly say that Bahia palace gives me and fulfills, the thirst of magnificent architecture that my mind lacks.
